Questions, answered.

Where do I get tested?

At Quest or BioReference, at 2,000+ locations across the US.

How do I prepare for my blood test?

You get your instructions when you book. In short:

  • Bring your ID and your requisition.
  • Fast for 10 to 12 hours before your draw, with plain water only. Nothing else to drink in that time.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine and strenuous exercise.
  • Pause nonessential supplements for 3 days before.
  • Keep taking prescribed medication, unless your doctor has told you otherwise.
  • Bring a snack for afterwards.

With Complete, a urine sample is also collected at the same visit.

How long until I see my results?

Up to 5 business days. They appear on your timeline once the ordering clinician has reviewed and released them.

How much blood is taken?

Typically 7 tubes of blood, plus a urine sample with Complete.

What is the difference between Core, Baseline and Complete?

Core organizes and explains the record you already have. Baseline is Core plus a yearly test of 75+ biomarkers, from one blood draw. Complete is Core plus a yearly test of 115+ biomarkers, from one blood draw and a urine sample.

All three include: unlimited health record storage, your whole history on one timeline, insights and lifestyle recommendations, daily routines and habits, sharing with your doctor, and the Octo Score. Ask Octo is coming soon to all three.

Baseline and Complete add: the yearly test of 75+ biomarkers with Baseline or 115+ with Complete, personalized and advanced insights, and the complete Octo Score, because the panel feeds it.

Everything in your record is yours, whichever membership you are on. See every marker at What we test.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Yes. There is no no-show fee, and you can reschedule in the app. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late you lose your slot, but most labs will still take you as a walk-in that day. Rescheduling is the safer option if you know you cannot make it on time.

Who sees my lab results?

The ordering clinician sees them first, before or at the same time as you. They are then released into your Octo Health record. Octo Health staff are not clinicians, so questions about what a result means go to your own doctor, or to the ordering clinician. Inside your account you and anyone you share your record with can read what each marker measures and why it matters.

Why test every year?

Because one test only tells you where you are today. Testing every year shows which way your markers are moving, and that is what you and your doctor can actually work with.

Does my yearly blood test roll over if I do not use it?

No. Your included panel belongs to your membership year and does not roll over to the next one. If it cannot be used for a reason on our side, for example the reviewing clinician does not authorize it, or panels are not available where you live, we credit or refund its value.

Does my membership renew automatically?

Yes. A monthly membership renews every month and an annual one once a year. Before every annual renewal you get a reminder, and if your price is going to change, we give you at least 30 days notice.
